It’s late in the night, hour of the wolf. The rain beats down hard onto the city streets, almost drowning out the sound of distant gunshots. On the edge of the slums stands an old apartment block that was converted into a low budget hotel. It’s former owner’s dreams of riches long dead as the decrepit rooms are now filled with half dead junkies languishing in their fleeting euphoria. A room on the second floor has a light still on, flickering away in defiance of the darkness from outside that threatens to consume its meagre warmth. The room’s current occupants sneer from behind their ghoulish masks, wishing for darkness to hide the faeces stained floor. A creature of filth, barely recognisable as a man, cowers before them. He coughs out from between broken, rotting teeth.
“Oi ‘aven seen nuffink!” Oi sweaz! Dawnt tell nawones me!”
One of the masked men draws a pistol from beneath his coat and almost teasingly slow begins to point it at the serf’s head.
“You say that you will not tell a soul? Well I believe you.”
The ragged man closes his eyes in fearful anticipation.
With a start Kincade awakes. After realising that he is still at his desk he slouches back in his chair. Kincade reaches for the half empty glass of stale whiskey left from the previous night. He looks warily at a case file in front of him. He remembers some woman walking into his office once he was well into his bottle, she hastily asked for his help and offered payment. He couldn’t remember what his response was but she left him a file. Kincade tentatively gathers the papers from within this mysterious parcel, and begins to read them. After a few brief minutes he places the files down and reaches for his rolodex, whispering wearily to himself,
“I’m going to need help with this one.”.

Andrew Kincade: Is a somewhat disenfranchised private detective. Though he still harbours an almost unbreakable desire to help those in need and see justice served, he has seen enough corruption and evil in his time that he very nearly no longer believes in good. Having started out in the police force with the intention of protecting the innocent and upholding the law he soon learned that dreams are only dust. As a beat cop he was constantly chased off or beaten, and as a detective he saw his colleagues and his superiors held at the mercy of bloodthirsty criminals. He got out before he became too closely embroiled in it and opened up a private detective firm. Every man that has come to his door to ‘shake him up’ has been shot dead and left in the street. Kincade is a hard man with a deadeye shot and will of iron.
Typical Quote: “You ain’t going to see the inside of a cell buddy.”
Kelly (Princess) Jones: Kelly is a large bear of a man. He seems virtually Neanderthal in appearance, with thick black hair covering his heavily muscled arms and chest. Though Kelly has learned how to be careful with his huge size and strength, he does have a bit of a temper. This temper usually only comes out when somebody mentions that Kelly is a girl’s name. Otherwise he is a reasonable and wonderfully genial man. Though you could hardly consider Kelly an intellectual, he does have a knack for solving puzzles and tends to think things through before acting. Kelly was raised on the streets and grew up fighting and bullying. Though as an adult he understands the ramifications of bullying, and as a result doesn’t tend to do it anymore. He still falls back into might makes right all too often. Only his closest friends call him Princess.
Typical Quote: “IT’S NOT A GIRL’S NAME!”
Ms. Constance (Connie) Wood: Constance is a highly intelligent woman who has given her life to charity. She honestly believes that the very idea of serfs in the modern world is shameful. As a result she has dedicated her life to trying to bring the serfs out of their slums and into the world. She achieves this by schooling the children in the slums district of the city. She has managed to gather a group of like-minded individuals to help teach at this school and has garnered the generosity of several noble families to fund this project in return for skilled workers. This suits Constance just fine as she can educate and train her young wards and get them jobs when they are old enough. Constance walks with poise and grace and she is incredibly well dressed and presented wherever she may be. She carries with her a distinct air of authority and confidence, such that she has no fear of walking the slums unguarded for even the most violent and hardened thugs lower their eyes and mutter “good day miss” when she passes. It also helps that she is an expert martial artist and marksman.
Typical Quote: “My dear, you are bleeding because you do not know how to properly address a lady.”
Angie (Boom Boom) James: Angie is often described as peppy and petite. She is a woman who is quite slim and only stands at 4’9” tall. With less curves than the average woman, her size often gets her mistaken for a child. Her story begins on the streets of the slums. She went to school at Ms. Wood’s school where she did exceptionally well, however her small stature often caused her to be the subject of bullying and ridicule. As she and the other kids got older the bullying became more physical and more vicious. Soon Angie realised that if she stayed around she would end up like the weaker and often sick kids, dead in some gutter. As soon as she turned 16 she got a letter of recommendation from Ms. Wood and immediately signed up for whatever job would get her out of the slums. As it turned out, that job would be in the army. Given her small size, and the natural cunning that it developed, it was soon discovered that she had a penchant for the more clandestine site of combat. She was able to easily slip though gaps in walls, holes in fences, and open windows that most people would simply find impossible. This was used to great effect as Angie could place bombs where the enemy would least expect. One day she was ordered to use explosives to destroy a heavily built bunker that only had minimal guards. She followed her orders admirably and within the day that bunker was destroyed. She soon found out that it was a shelter for enemy civilians, and as she walked through the bodies of broken children she decided to desert. Now Angie acts as a gun for hire, using her abilities and experience to great effect.
Typical Quote: “Trust me, this dress may make me look like a 12 year old, but it’s got room for at least 6 guns.”
Looks great.
There’s a chance the Sat. game won’t fill and if that is the case I will join your Sat. game. Feel free to email me if you want, too. I think GMs have our contact info.
Can’t wait.
Mr Smith: Mr Smith is an assassin. He is a consummate professional who takes pride in all aspects of his life and his job. He’s been described by the very few who know him as dour and humourless when in fact he is simply an incredibly serious man. Most people are put off when around him as his clear, concise speech and his methodical way of moving produces an aura of intimidation and danger. When he talks people listen, when he approaches people shut up.
Nothing is known about Mr Smith’s real life, his work, or even his real name. The man is a true enigma that may never be solved and as an expert killer nobody is likely to force the information from him.
Typical Quote: “……….”
Jake Quinn: Jake is a rash man from the new country, a wild and untamed frontier which few souls dare test. Mr. Quinn considers himself something of a renaissance man, with a good eye for marksmanship, good hands for fighting, and a quick wink (which apparently are all anyone needs to get through life). Jake Likes to talk fast, shoot fast, and though his brain doesn’t usually catch up to his body, he seems to make it through the worst of situations on pure luck and courage.
Typical Quote: “Maybe if you’re luck you’ll get to see my guns lady…. oh I don’t mean my pistols.”
