Any ideas on what class I should play?
I will have pre-gens for all classes, but I am happy for you to bring along a character if you want. I will not be doing character creation in the one-shot, as that will take up too much time, so your character sheet needs to be ready to go before the event.
As to what class to play, this module is all about finding and disabling traps, fighting monsters and keeping to the goal of getting the gem. Keep that in mind when you create a character.
Also note, this, which is a direct cut and paste from the module:
Recommended Reading
Before you begin this adventure, it is recommended that you and your players read the following article. This will help you to better understand the old school style of gaming and what Gary Gygax intended for the game.
The Rot Grub: Gary Gygax Himself, On the Old-School Style of Gaming: https://rotgrub.wordpress.com/2012/05/16/the-old-school-style-of-early-dd/
Oops, forgot to mention, any material is ok for building your character (PHB, EE, SCAG, VOLO, UA). Use the point buy system for stats.
I’ll grab a pre-gen, that will do me nicely.
Any chance of sending me them as this is my first 5e game ever?
Don’t worry, I’ve been playing since the late seventies so I know my way round,
I just want to get to know the 5e subtleties before saturday.
Farnaby, if this is your first time playing 5ed, I would recommend reading the 5e Basic Rules, which can be found here:
https://media.wizards.com/2014/downloads/dnd/PlayerDnDBasicRules_v0.2_PrintFriendly.pdf
I would recommend reading chapters 7 through to 9, and also chapter 10 if you choose a class that can cast spells.
Chapters 2 and 3 cover Race and Class respectively, so you can get an understanding of what each class available in the basic rules can do. There are more classes than this of course, but it might be best to start with one that is available in the Basic Rules.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Sure,
but no need for that I bought the core books (DM’s Guide, Player’s Handbook and Monster Manual) a while back but my group only plays pathfinder at the moment. So I’ll go through those chapters in the Player’s Handbook. Any chance of grabbing the rogue pre-gen?
I will pdf the rogue character sheet and email it to you when I get the chance.
Thanks!
I’m interested in signing up. What’s the class make up so far if I may ask.
Only one class has been selected so far, and that class is Rogue.
Is it possible to get list of what pre-gens you have available beforehand?
Off the top of my head, all the 12 classes are represented and they are:
Dragonborn Sorcerer
High elf Wizard
High Elf Fighter
Human Druid
Halfing Monk
Dwarf Cleric
Half elf Bard
Half orc Paladin
Tiefling Warlock
Wood elf Ranger
Human Barbarian
Halfing Rogue (assigned to Farnaby)
Forgot to list I have Teamspeak also.
I would like to play the “High Elf Fighter” if it fits into the group.
I’d choose Dragonborn Sorc if available. Is it possible to customize it ? Either logging in a little early or altering the pre-gen. Just stats, origin, background, metas and spell list, lol. If not, no worries.
